Those are the idle mixture screws. I once had a fazer which had all four snapped off. Some goon has screwed them down hard and wedged the tips in the tiny drill hole, then backed them out leaving the tips broken and blocking the hole. Thankfully they poked through enough to tap them back loose so they would drop out.
Make sure you can see daylight through the holes on the broken ones. Also, don't use copaslip on them when you fit them if you ever expect to get them out again. Normal grease is fine. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

I was that goon - on my XJ550/598 I forgot the spring when reassembling one of the carbs, as a consequence the needle was able to be screwed right down into its recess and sure enough the tip broke off on removal.. but without enough to poke through - ended up abandoning that carb as I would have needed a sub 1mm drill bit to remove it.
You might do better just to find a spare rack of carbs for the bits you need. ____________________ Now: A100, GT250A, XJ598, FZ750
