I fitted new plugs on my bike. It was going ok before I changed them. Then it wouldn't start. I found that the left plug wasn't sparking. I swopped the coil and lead from the right side over to the left and found it wasn't sparking. The voltage is the same on the left coil as the right. Then I swapped the coil that was originally on the left over to the right and it didn't spark. I have established that the coil on the left is faulty and that both plug leads are ok. Obviously there is an electrical problem on the left side. I wonder what it could be. The rectifier went a few weeks back. That may have burned out the coil on the left and done damage to some electrical part through overcharging.

Check all the connections to and around the rectifier for signs of melting/damage.

I checked the spark plug by putting it into the spark plug cap then touching it off the frame and turning the engine.

I used the old plug to check the spark by putting it into the spark plug cap, touching it off the frame and turning the engine. So its not the new plugs that are faulty.
