Need help.

I have owned my Honda S wing for 3 months now. It currently has just over 11000miles on it.

It ran fine for ages and then slowly I noticed a few changes and today it finally had a melt down.

So when I first got it I would average 18.6 Miles per litre but this slowly started to drop and it currently only does 17.6. Also when stopping at lights the bike will go into ideal but the revs will start to flutter and the bike will cut out but it does start again. To prevent it cutting out I will give it slight acceleration at the lights. I have also noticed the exhaust is back firing every now and then. (After market exhasust) the cutting out has gone from every now and then to now every time its idealling. Also it sounds alot more throaty but not in a good way.

Then today the FI started to flash a few times then stayed on for my ride to work. I did not count the flashes. On way back light never illuminated but it still did not feel right. When holding a speed of 40mph it felt like it was slipping on the power just slightly but would make me give more acceleration.

I have had iridium plug added and oil change done 500 miles ago.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated as I do not know where to start.

Ali.

The cutting out is indicative of air leaks in the rubbers on the induction side and it also sounds like your exhaust is fucked as well.

Don't know the scoot but at 6 years and 11000 miles its
probably in need of more tlc than a new plug and oil change.
I doubt its anything fatal but a good service plus some parts would probably get it all tickety boo again.
the exhaust for instance may just need to be nipped up or a new seal fitted
A close visual inspection is a good start
pics, vids can alway help forum folk make guesses.

If you don't know how or cant afford to pay someone to do it.
get a manual.
Not sure if any members here have intimate knowledge of the thing
but there may be dedicated forums on this model so google it
and build a dossier of info, tips and tricks you can refer to.

Would agree with everything above, this is the closest manual for your bike

Really appreciate all the feedback and help.

So someone has told me they think it could just require a valve adjustment not sure what that consists of but the person does have some knoweledge with regards to mechanics.

The seal that goes round the air box does look a but knackered and not as tight fitted anymore.

Would having the FI light flashing and then staying on yesterday not mean there is something more substantial wrong.

Is there a Haynes manual available for an S wing.

Again thank you all going to work on it this weekend.

So after much tinkering and cleaning all contacts etc it still was playing up.

Have took it to a local bike shop who think it requires a valve clearance which they are doing. Will let you all know how it goes.

A couple of interesting things in this thread:
https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=313667

UnknownStuntman links to a page which lists the FI fault codes, and cb1rocket has a workshop manual

Evening all so that's the bike fixed.

Due to not having the time I made the decision to take it in to my local bike shop.

They could not identify anything mechanically wrong. So they carried out a valve clearance which they said required no adjustment. They then cleaned the oxygen sensor the throttle body and another few smaller areas and it's now running a dream.

It total including X2 new tyres fitted they charged £230 which I found reasonable.
