Hello all

I noticed today when riding home in the dark that my headlights seem to flicker as if I had a poor alternator and my indicators were on. Weirdly, there's no issue with that and they weren't!

Does anyone have any ideas of what this could mean?

A flicker sounds like a poor connection, dimmer is a power reduction.
I would replace the bulb.

Dimming at the same sort of rate as if the indicators were on Thinking
Maybe a parasitic drain from the flasher relay output, enough to trigger it?

Do you notice anything while stationary? If so try pulling the flasher relay and see if the effect persists. (Or a quick test ride without it if you can do so safely.)

I have seen 'going bad' coils causing this.

Sounds like your charging system cant cope will all of them at the same time.

Start it, disconnect the stator and then apply your multimeter set to 50v ac (approx) across the three wires in each possible combination of pairs.

I'm betting at least on of the pairs wont be kicking out a voltage.
