If you are confident then try adjusting the oil mixture pump as sounds like its adjusted to strong. Also check out the airfilter and give it a clean(make sure you oil the thing before putting it back in the airbox). Try also a new plug-always helps as well no matter what the problem is he he Very Happy

Do you mean a filter for the gearbox oil or the 2 stroke oil? there will probably be an oil strainer on the 2 stroke oil line attached to the bottle. I am pretty sure that there will not be a filter for the gearbox oil. You need to oil the air filter, otherwise it will fall apart, use some 20/50 4 stroke oil or something similar, soak it then squeeze out the excess.

As for adjusting the pump, try and source a manual so that you can check that it is set up correctly, as not enough oil could lead to the engine seizing. My bike drips dirty water when it has been standing, just condensation in the exhaust.

Personally I wouldn't adjust the oil mix, get it wrong and you'll seize the engine.

The oil coming out the exhaust is just unburnt oil. If it bothers you that much take the exhaust off and clean it out.

The oil filter.... If this is just a two stroke engine the oil is only for the gear box and as such won't have a oil filter. simply drain the oil and replace. Don't get the two stroke oil and gear box oil mixed up though. You'll want gear box oil 10-40 stuff Will probably be what you require.

Don't for get to keep the two stroke oil topped up as well, again not confusing the gear box oil and two stroke oil.

nope its not dirty water! thick black oil.

i'll take it round a garage for the oil mix adjustment (i don't have a clue). i'll sort out the air filter tomorrow as well.

i know theres an eyeglass for the gearbox oil but i cant find it on my bike...should be on the right hand side yes? not sure if it needs topped up or not.

so the 2 stroke oil change is just drain the bottle and top up again....

Just keep the 2 stroke oil bottle topped up, stick with a decent brand of oil and never ever use the bike if the 2 stroke oil bottle is empty! Just change the gearbox oil if you don't know how much is there, it will only cost a few pounds, get the garage to do it if they are checking the oil pump out.

I wouldn't worry too much about the oil coming out of the exhaust, if there was too much oil getting through it would probably be fouling the spark plug, but you can always get it checked out to make sure.

ok thanks for that mate.

as you can tell i am a complete moron Embarassed when it comes to bike maintenance!! although when i bought the thing it was wrecked at the front, fixed the lot up without a manual or experience. then the other day at work it wouldn't bloody start, GUESSED that the spark plug and air filter needed changing.

not bad for a novice Rolling Eyes

thanks for all your help!!!

What bike is it?

I know the old NS125 never had a eye glass, it had a bolt which you undid and when you filled the gear box oil it was at the correct level when it started to come out of this bolt hole.

ah i know theres a cap with 1025ml next to it (can't remember exact number). i think this might be it... so fill it to top? i read somewhere that you need to put the exact amount in.

the break fluid i have says it can be used to gearbox. wasn't too sure on that!

its a Suzuki RG125FUN 1994

No, don't fill it to the top and er brake fluid in there is not good either Very Happy

You need to find out what amount of oil goes in there, and what type. It will probably be 10/40, if it says 1025ml then it is probably that. You can buy a small bottle of motorcycle gearbox oil for around £3.

There will be a drainer bolt to get the old oil out, usualy under the gear lever, warm the bike up for a few minutes and switch the engine off, then undo the bolt and drain all the oil out. Tighten it back up then refill with the correct amount, the filler cap should be on the side of the crankcase somewhere Thumbs Up

Oil coming out of the exhaust can also mean on a two stroke that the exhaust is partially blocked up with carbon and two stroke oil, clean it out and you should cure the problem.
