Hi

I have an 07 CBR600 and my seat unit has multiple small scratches.

I'm thinking of wet sanding it then polishing.

Does anyone know if the OEM bodywork has lacquer on it? I assume the tank fairing has lacquer in order to protect it from petrol ruining it but what about the other panels.

Thanks in advance.

'Lacquer' is just the gloss part of paint without pigment and background.

It's called clear coat.

Check out RS paints.

The big issue is colour matching.
But If there is enough separation between the repair and other panels it won't be noticeable.

It will have clear on it. I’d be careful wet sanding as the paint is real thin on them. You can bust through the paint really fast. If you can post a photo of it.

make sure your using something like 3000 and have the right gear to then correct it afterwards
