Chain Cleaner on Rear Tyre - please advise

Lubed chain, got some on rear tyre, so I used chain cleaner (not lube) to clean tyre. Will this cause slippage on rear tyre?

Depends what it is. As with almost everything, they way to clean it off is hot soapy water followed by clean water to rinse off the soap.

Clean tyres don’t slip so I guess you’re asking whether the cleaner itself will remain on the tyre. I was going to say no, it’s all highly volatile solvents, but looking at the safety data sheet for WD40 chain cleaners (for example), section 3 shows it is >80% non-hazardous ingredients (the rest is solvents, propellants and detergents). What the heck could that 80% consist of?

I just wipe the lubricant (gear oil) off the edge of the tyre with a dry rag, then go easy on the first few corners, just in case. What little remains soon scrubs off.

Unless I'd actually doused the tyre with chain lube I'd just ride it with no fucks given. Probably wouldn't even wipe the tyre.

It can't be any worse than riding home in the rain with a just fitted tyre.

If I'm concerned about some sort of contaminant on a tyre I just give it a wipe over with some solvent - usually isopropanol or brake cleaner. I usually have plenty of each laying around.

Stinkwheel's suggestion of hot soapy water and a rinse is, of course, the right way to proceed.

I use a stiff washing up brush with some car shampoo on it - if the cleaner is oil based then you’ll need a bit more oomph from the detergent. Then rinse off gently.
