Sorry to butt in on someone elses post but, i thought as soon as you turn 17 you still have a year on your cbt, (if you did it at 16) as it lasts for 2 years, so you can insure it, tax it and then your on the road? then after the cbt expires you take the test? im i right??

It is worth gettig your full licence if you can afford it, which was my problem for a while.
bike: as much as you like, mine was a £50 scrapyard resurection (cost about £200 when on the road)
CBT: £85 - £100 depends where you go
Lessons(including use of bike for test): 2 hours - £45 X 4 (plus a lot of practice on my bike)
test: Practical - £50-ish Theory - £20-ish
writing all this down scares me a little (especially if you add the insurance ) hope it gives you an idea of the cost though.

It's the initial cost of getting on the road on a bike that scares a lot of people, but once you're up & running, it's a lot cheaper & more economical, e.g. better fuel economy than cars. Plus infinitely more enjoyable!! (except maybe when it's raining in the middle of winter ) ____________________ "...
