Seems that the 'Borg was right on the Chinese not giving two hoots about sticking any old label into any old product and punting them on.

I've seen the ad for these gloves loads of times on social media. TBH I ignored it on the grounds of hipsters gon' hipster.

With all that said, my Held gloves fell apart at the seams in less than 1000 miles riding (I took them to a tailor to reinforce them properly) and I've had equally shonky experiences with RST gloves. Not to mention my mate's Knox Handroids that completely assploded on impact with the floor in a crash.

My best/favourite gloves (and I have at least 8 pairs) are my Weise Daytona short cuff gloves, I think they set me
back about £75 when I bought them back in 2014, stitching is still 100%, scaphoid sliders, kangaroo palm, memory
foam behind knuckle guard, absolutely perfect fit, velcro still spot on and doesn't come undone.

https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/weise-daytona-motorcycle-glove-review-1.jpg

I have a long cuff version as well called the Tornado which are almost identical.
https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/L~wAAOSwlDVg5s9S/s-l400.jpg

but since I only tend to ride on hot sunny days I don't wear them much.

I also rate my Icon Hypersport short cuff gloves although they aren't as robust as either pairs of Weise gloves.

I have a pair of those knock-offs! (I use them as gardening gloves.)

My motorcycle gloves are some British-made leather ones (whoa! who even knew Britain made anything these days) and they've held up for over a year totally fine.

British Made?

I bought Knox race gloves.

Velcro came off of a cuff the week after I bought them.
The fabric in the 'throttle' finger wore through in three weeks.

Shite.

I have a pair of Rukka winter gloves.

I've used them all summer. Very Happy

Pricey as hell but they are very functional.

I've got a pair of Hein Gericke Pro Sports gloves I've been wearing for at least 10 years now. There's still nothing wrong with them, and most of the time I don't even think about them. I don't think you can really give a higher endorsement of a product than "they're the only ones I've got and I've never even really thought about changing them".

I just wish Hein Gericke hadn't gone under so I could get a spare pair.

I like those Weise summer gloves too and have had several sets. I seem to wear through the palm after about 18 months but they are very comfy.

Just got back from a 4h ride through biblical Scottish rain in my Klim Vanguards and have dry hands. My 6 year old Lidl waterproof jacket has just started to keak in one elbow though.

I am a very low mileage, fair weather rider, most of my kit still looks brand new to be fair. I've done an average
mileage of 500 miles a year over the last 6 years. There's a good reason for that and I'm hoping to increase upon that
over the next few years with the new bike.

Hein Gerricke gear was very good gear.
Pity the people behind the UK franchise didn't stand up as well as the gear.
I still have three jacket trouser, and the rally boots.
Pity they shat in the bed.

Agreed. Their master 4 gloves were flat out the best, most waterproof winter motorcycle gloves I ever owned. I'd love another set.

I have a set of Furygan short cuff gloves, and they cost £40. They have lasted about 6 years, and I adore them. The ones prior to that were Triumph branded shorty gloves which are still around somewhere and they are still whole, complete and usable. The leather is a bit dry but otherwise they are great.

They cost £20.

My favourite leather strides are HG, and I have an awesome black leather race jacket by them too as well as a
couple of textile jackets. New unworn HG stuff does still come up, I just spun a nice new with tags pair of leather strides
that I got for 40 and sold on for 80. I really liked them but they were long leg which the seller failed to mention
in the listing and were too long for me. Made a tidy profit on those. Thumbs Up and they sold very quickly.

Pah, I can beat that! My gloves are Kett leathers bought 40 years ago at a cost of 17 quid if I recall from K-Kawasaki in Bedford, a shop long since past. Similarly I too am a fair weather jessie since I passed my car test.

40 years ago I was 9. I've grown a little since then. Laughing

But did his hands come to harm? If not, job done.

That said, I’ve got an old pair of Knox gloves somewhere, hardly used because although they felt OK on the bike frame at Bike Stop, on the road they caused pain at whatever the junction between fingers and palm is called. Strange tailoring, I guess. Long fingers, short palm.

back in 90's there was an importer called lintek

they had the rights to the lewis leather name for a bit and ran straight to pakistan to get stock made with the lewis brand on

anyway by the second batch of gloves, RIDE magazine got hold of a pair for a destruction test and proceeded to chop them up, finding there was no kevlar at all in the gloves

the manufacturers "forgot" to include it in the second batch, not because they wanted to make more profit, honest

On a more positive note, the choice of CE level 2 gloves is starting to increase:

https://www.mcgearhub.com/motorcycle-gloves/best-safest-motorcycle-gloves-ce-level-2-buying-guide/ Thumbs Up

It’s good to have (finally!) the option of more gloves with higher protection.
