Hi all hope everyone is well.

I've got a bit of a problem here, I have an old 04 plate Yamaha majesty that I use for committing. I've got a problem with the starter. After a few hours of swearing and dealing with rounded and rusted bolts I've finally got to the starter motor.. it was absolutely solid I had to use a pry bar and hammer to get it out.

After finally getting it out I've noticed that part of the starter motor casing is still in the socket. I'm a bit lost on how I'm going to get that out.

Any suggestions welcome.

I've got a 2001 Majesty 250
is yours the 125,250 or 400? for starters
I'll guess carbed 400.

A better or at least viewable picture would help

this is my 250 after renovation which may be similar
I'd removed stripped and serviced the starter motor.
The starter is only held in with two M6 bolts so
if the drive end is stuck in, you may have to drop the oil
and remove the RH crankcase cover to drive remnants out
but hot air gun may help to free it.

Jeez... one of those "it was only the rust holding it together" projects, best of luck!

BTW to show the photos in your post you can get a link from imgur, look for "BBCode" in the menu. It should copy something like this to the clipboard:

Which in turn would give you this:

As above, you're probably going to need to drive that out from the inside. I'd be wanting something that fits on the end neatly too to use as a drift. Either an appropriate sized socket on an extension bar or possibly even buy a piece of aluminium or brass rod of the right diameter off ebay to use as a drift.

Applying a load of heat to the outside of the casing will only help.

It sure is... Looked alright with all the plastics on tbf

Had new tires, fork Stanton's, fork seals, brakes, battery etc.

Shit show underneath though, rounded and rusted bolts everywhere.

First second hand bike I've ever had tbh.

You might get it out using a combination of heat and a bearing puller. (If there's space to get to the bit.)

This sort of puller.

Was that bike in The Little Mermaid?
It looks like it's had a Hard Life at Sea.

I've fitted the new starter motor but I'm still having problems.

When I press the start button I hear the starter relay click but nothing happens, I've tested the relay it's working fine. I've also converted the + of the starter directly to the battery all I get is huge sparks.

The + terminal reads 0 ohms as if it's directly connected to gnd is this correct ?

Cheers all.

Remove the starter

I always test any starter off the bike/car/van first just to make sure it actually works

So off the bike before jumping it from a battery:

Does the shaft spin freely or at least easily?
If so get some jump leads and battery.

Expect a good torque reaction as it will try and jump
out of your hand so best clamp it to summat or hold it down with your foot

You may well get sparks when you first connect a jump lead
as it's effectively a dead short
(in reality it's a very low resistance)

If it works doing the above examine the bike electrics
If you look at the pic of my engine you'll see
the ground lead clamped at the bolt rear of the starter,
(there is no paint or rust under the starter leg or terminals BTW )
make sure this has good continuity to both battery neg and frame ground.

if it doesn't work off the bike then you have a faulty one
cos it certainly wont magically work on the bike

Thanks for the reply.. I had another look at it

I've removed and tested off of the bike and it works, I've also connected it to the bike but not installed it and it also works.

So does that mean the engine/flywheel is siezed?
I did have trouble getting it in..I chapped it in with a hammer could that somehow bind it up?
