Hello all, the battery light has been flashing on my bike when the ignition is on but it starts up and runs fine, once running there'd be no warning lights on the dash. Sometimes there'd be a hesitation to start as in it would go to, stop then go again and fire up. Now yesterday it started up I went to work, finished work then it was flat.

The battery fitted is a 12v 4ah battery, is the battery light flashing because its not getting charged or because of a faulty battery? As the battery light doesn't flash once its running I'd assumed it would be the battery having to low of an amperage. Any help would be appreciated!

Is it flashing in a sequence? Sounds more like the bike is giving you a fault code.

I'd imagine the battery light should come on when you turn the key and go off once the engine's started just so you know the light is actually working.

Flat battery hints at the charging circuit, maybe a bad regulator?

Not a flat battery.

First thing to check is the battery terminals are clean and properly fastened
Next is to put a meter on it to observe the standing voltage
say 12.5V
and running voltage, typically around 14v

Okay, I take it back. Lights might come on all at once as a "lights test" but not flashing, that's something else.

I removed the battery today in the hopes of finding a replacement or one similar so I've made sure the terminals were tight and secure. I'll use a multimeter and check voltages tomorrow
