Alright everyone,
My name is Eric, joining you all from just across the Channel in France.
I'm the lucky owner of a Ducati Panigale (I know, I will post a picture, I promise!).
The main reason for joining is a big trip I've got planned for this year... I'm finally making the pilgrimage to the Island for the TT! It's my first time, so as you can imagine I am properly buzzing for it.
I'll be riding the bike all the way over, so I'll be making my way through England to catch the ferry. I'm really looking forward to the journey itself.
Anyway, just wanted to say hi. I'm sure I will have some silly questions for you all later!
Cheers,
Eric

Take plenty of money! Friends of mine have been over and the universal comment is how everything, everything is ratcheted up when the racing's on.

It looks like at least a 6 hour ride from Dover to Heysham
( ignore google map estimates, they're overly optimistic)
and you wont see anything of England just motorway but while boring,
its obviously the most efficient route.
Fuel will be at its most expensive at motorway services and not sure of your bikes range
but be prepared to bite the bullet.

Oh and don't go bringing any of them immigrants in ok?
We got enough of them already

Bon Chance!

FYI
At roughly the halfway point between Dover and Heysham
There is a Tesco superstore at Rugby
1.8 miles (3 km ish?) south of junction 1 of the M6 motorway
Fuel, snacks etc here will be significantly cheaper than motorway prices

You'd have a much nicer ride if you took the ferry from Rotterdam to Hull and rode cross-country from there. The ride up from Dover is rubbish, you'll arrive fed up riding your bike on congested motorways with a square back tyre and possibly a speeding fine.

Meh. I was over this year. Pint of Busheys bitter £3.50, Tesco have also taken over the local supermarket chain (Shoprite) and groceries have never been cheaper there. The locals love the race visitors and in most cases avoid ripping them off.

The exception is hotel accommodation where I heard some stories of £250 a night which is mad.

The tourist board run a 'homestay' operation where regular householders open up for the fortnight to offer accom which is typically less than £50/night, many folk camp on teh many sports club fields which also convert to temporary sites, but that can be miserable is it rains which it often does..

£75 buys you a two week camping permit at Sulby Claddagh for TT period (although this was once free)

The other costs that have appeared more frequently is parking at some view spots.. At Creg this year the pub parking was free but across the road a farmer was charging £5.. I saw a number of bikes there not just cars who'd paid Confused I paid £1 to park a Rhencullen Thumbs Up

This is true. Also try for Liverpool crossing if you can.. a bit closer and the boat is faster and better for loading/unloading.
