Hi everyone,

I'm having a frustrating issue with my 2016 Suzuki GSX-R1000 L6, and I'd really appreciate any advice from those who may have experienced something similar.

The Problem

When I'm riding and open the throttle, the bike accelerates perfectly up to around 10,000 RPM. As soon as it reaches 10,000 RPM, the engine suddenly cuts power, as if it's hitting an unexpected rev limiter or momentarily losing power. The RPM then drops slightly, after which the engine pulls normally again until it reaches 10,000 RPM, where the same issue repeats.

Additional Details
There is no FI (Fault Indicator) light on the dashboard, and no error codes are displayed.
Low and mid-range performance is completely normal, with crisp throttle response.
The problem only occurs under load at high RPM. The engine revs normally in neutral.

Since there are no FI warnings or stored fault codes, I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this exact issue before or has any suggestions on what I should inspect first.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Has it always don this in your ownership or is it something that just started recently?

Has it got an aftermarket quickshifter?

My old Blade had a translogic shifter fitted and did almost the exact same thing. An almost imperceptible blip at high revs, but ran perfectly everywhere else. As soon as I disconnected it, it disappeared and was perfect the whole time I kept the bike.

It wasn't doing this when I bought it, it just started recently.

Thanks for sharing your experience, that's really interesting. However, my bike doesn't have a quickshifter or any aftermarket shifter fitted at all. It's completely stock in that area, so the issue must be coming from something else.

Was it the clutch switch? Many Suzukis default to the neutral ignition map when the clutch is pulled in which will give a reduced rev limit.

Even if it wasn't - share the solution so that it can help others in the future.

I discovered an app named MotoRepair on the Play Store. After researching on it, I figured out that the problem could be related to the Exup system. The Exup servo motor is defective. The reason why the FI light wasn't illuminated was the broken steering damper. The previous owner had installed an electronic module to prevent the steering damper from throwing an FI code, which is why the light stayed off.
