Hi from spain.

I read all the topics about this bike, but I can solve the problem with my nsr with 6000 Km.

The problem is that the bike don't get enough speed. At 120-125 Km/h (about 75 mph) is top speed.

I tried to remove the restriction, but it seems that no restrictor are in the bike. I changed the sparkplug and the air filter. Also changed the transmission kit and put a 13/36 system.

The bike push up of revolutions without problem arriving to the 11K rev or more, in all gear, but it arrives al 75 mph in 5 gear, but when I put 6 gear, the speed is the same.

After all this changes, I think that the CDI is OK, and no restrictions are in the bike, but it remains without top speed.

Any idea?. Is possible that the discharge valve don't opens at all?

Thanks for any suggestion, and sorry for my poor english.

Bye

europearn bikes (non-UK) like yours have CDI restrictions that limit the bikes revs in higher gears, have a search around the forum l think allians had a power valve mod that bypassed the restrictions.

Thanks, but the bike arrives at 11-11,5K in all gears, except in 6.

If I push the 5 gear, the tachometer goes into red zone.

Do you still thinks that is a problem with CDI?

the restriction is in the RC valves control box , the exhaust valves do not open as they should do after 7800 rpm . try this : on the right side of the tank , you can see the servo pulley and a piece of stuff where the cables are stopped . the tractor cable is the most right . undo the screw in the pulley center an take off the pulley . take the right cable out of its stop . insert a thickness 1/10 of inch at the end of the sheath (the best way is to do it with aluminium foil) . then re-fit the cable and you must see the sheath a bit out of its stop . re-fit the pulley . this will force the valves to open fully . also fit a 402 CARB jollymoto exhaust line (+2.5 hp) , upjet 145-45-70 (https://www.dellorto.co.uk) with a 10% air box entry openning
the rc valves control can be improve electronicaly , if you want to know send me a direct email at asaniard@neuf.fr , i will give you the docs

you must reach & overtake easily the red zone (12500 rpm) , but the shape of the exhaust will limit you at 11000 , but you will feel the improvment .

Alains,

The problem with the exhaust valve is because the valve is broken or is because the CDI don't open at all the valve??

Thx.

if your cdi was restricted you need to change the coil . the better (i do not know which specifications you have on your bike) is to call TIM https://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk (phone is on the site) with your bike's serial number and your color code (under the saddle) , he will help you to determine your specs , but i remember thar the RR's are restricted on the CDI .
for bitter , the problem is not from the CDI , it's from the RC valves control box which not provide enough voltage to fully open the valves (4.4 V instead of 5.25 V) . in france we built a electronic complement to correct this , and i've written several posts about that and i am ready to send docs to everyone who wants it . pass me direct email asaniard@neuf.fr
