Hi

Ive just bought myself a spray can of Woodstove paint - black.

The idea being that it should be heat resistant enough to be sprayed on my exhaust end and pipe, as the new cover I got doesnt infact cover it completely, which shows up the brown flakey bits even more.

I dont want to be going down the road, and the damn thing catches fire! Mr. Green

Has anyone tried this before?

Loads of people have done it, works fine as long as it is the correct type of paint. You can use something like BBQ paint or there are specific products for use on exhausts/exhaust manifolds. As long as the paint is comfortable at the temperatures that the surface will reach then it is fine Smile

Oh, thats good to hear.

I was near Focus (went to go buy some winter biking gloves) and thought I would pop in and see how much a can was (and if they did it in sprays)

Just under £6 incase you were wondering Smile

a can of proper VHT costs about that too. And yes /that/ works bloody well as i know from experience. Although it doenst overly protect much if its already rusting. But it does make it pretty

Not sure. I read in another magazine that the exhaust gases that power turbos can easily reach 1000C. Should be cool though - i've sprayed my exhaust and had no problems Smile.

You can use it fine if it is designed for cast iron wood stoves. What sort of temperature does it take to make 1/4" thick cast iron glow cherry red? That is how hot it will cope with.

Stinks a bit as it heat cures the first couple of times you use it though, this will pass.
