Oil Leak

My new aprilia 125 has been dripping oil gradually over the last week- about a teaspoon full.

Earlier on i tohught it was coming from out of the exhaust pipe. Failing that-any ideas where it could be dripping from-i haven't a clue. Shocked

Ok i had a look-it's definately leaking out the end of the exhaust pipe.

Eh, how can oil be coming out of the end of the exhaust? Is it not dripping onto it first?

is it the end next to engine?
if so nothing to worry about, just a bit of a leak and 2 stroke is comeing from it.

Which end of the exhaust pipe? You say your NEW RS125, do you mean brand new? If so get the dealer to sort it. If the leak is somewhere near the exhaust can and dripping onto the floor on the left hand side it could be coming from the overflow pipe from the 2 stroke oil tank, cos that comes out somewhere near there. Have you filled it up with 2 stroke oil recently? Mine used to do this if I put too much in, it would somehow pick up into the overflow/expansion pipe and then drip over the exhaust can.

Right heres the deal:

Had the bike for a week-fine no worries.

Took it in for an alarm/immobiliser to be fitted-thats when i noticed the leak.

Oil light is on now and then so i have to fill up-but i haven't put any in yet.

The ''leak'' is actually dripping from the end hole of the exhaust pipe- where the fumes come out- nowhere else.

Tonight it just died- no power from the ignition switch so i left it-i think the battery might be nearly flat n all. Rolling Eyes

Right thanks for that. Spot on with the distance related thing- i do only take it on short journeys.Ill have a fiddle with it today and see what happens! Smile

Its worse than i thought!

The battery is nigh on dead (i think/hope)- it turns on as normal then the lights/dials fade. Theres no response from the ignition switch except some poofy whine-which dies out. I lifted up the tank to look at the battery and the fuel cable popped out (luckily i turned the fuel tap off.) I cant even get it to the shop so they can look at it. Jees.

2T's drip oil when they are being run-in as they don't fully burn all the oil at low revs. Don't worry about it, unless it still does it once its fully run in and gettting a good ragging.
