Yes you have to laquer it, and its a bastard to do!
You have to spray it thick enough so that it isnt speckled, and thin enough so that it doesnt run. i Recommend spraying indoors with no air movement, and from double the normal distance away. Keep finely dusting it not allowing the laquer chances to dry. this should help you to build up the thickness of the laquer without it running.
I sprayed a load of M1ke's panels for him such as the rear of his bike. The spray job was perfect! Then when it came time to laquer i gave it lots of thin coats, allowing each time to dry as you do with paint. The speckles just dried and built up on one another. the end result was so horrible we had to sand the panels down and start again. |

So it's the same as spraying, just try not to get any runs? When spraying it I was doing it really really thin, leaving it for 20-30 minutes, then another thin coat and then sanding it down a touch with some 600 paper and then starting again until it looked OK.
It looks exactly the same as the rear panel on that ZXR Frosty at the moment, kind of a matt finish so I wanted to try and get it looking nice and shiny like the other side, because at the moment it stands out like a sore thumb when compared to the other panels. Anyway, cheers for the advice lads, I've got to get some xmas bits tomorrow so I'll go and get some lacquer while I'm out and give it a go.

It's chipped already, just from putting it down on a table it made a small ding in it. I'm thinking of sanding it down again and giving it a couple more coats since I T-Cutted it because I want to give it a good key when I start spraying lacquer on. I'm a fussy bastard as well so I want to make sure it looks spot on seeing as it's a brand new bike too.
