Those pipes on the front of the bike do nothing as far as I'm aware, they're there for just cosmetic reasons. SO, if I could get a new cover for the airbox (i.e. vacuum form one) and continued the pipesso they went into the top of the airbox, would it alter the performance in any way? Faster preferably!

It would afaik make your fuel/air mixture incredibly lean.
Without adjusting to compensate, I imagine you would run the risk of damaging your engine.

Ah, well it was worth the idea. But if I changed the petrol air mix? Would that make any improvement?

I dount it.

Ram air doesnt come into effect until over 100mph - and then you only get around 10% afaik - so that would be 2bhp on an nsr at over 100mph.

Hi

Adjustment would not make much difference. A carb works on the basis that the air going through the carb goes quickly and thus is lower pressure than the air pressure in the carb float bowl.

If you pressurise the airbox then the you pressurise the carb and so it will not work. The only way to get it to work is to vent the carb float bowl with a pipe to the pressurised airbox.

All the best

Keith

Also, ram air systems are designed to operate well at speeds over the maximum of the NSR, so I doubt that will help much.

Just for "something different" value you could route cold air from the fron the the intake area to give it cold air. Will help keep things more consistant jetting wise I would of thought
