And the Blade's due for an MOT. The bulbs are fine, I blew the fuse, which I replaced but I still cannot get the light working from the front or back brake.
Any ideas?

Sure the connector is OK? maybe just need to tighten the bulb a bit more towards the connector. Smile

Does the fuse blow again, or does it just not work?

Fuses often aren't that fast acting, so it may be that another (dodgy) bit of the wiring got taken out in the process.

If you've got a multimeter, try and trace the wiring until you find a bit that stops working.

Check all the wires and look for any loose/dry joints I guess.

Any connectors, give them a good clean with a small metal file, and use lots of WD.. Tis all I can think of.

Have you checked the switch? no idea what the one on your bike is like, but mine was full of mud and the contacts were heavily corroded. Easy to take apart and clean up anyway.

I know this may sound stupid, what with it being a new bulb, but are you sure the bulb itself is not knackered? Question

Looking and being are different though!! Laughing

I bought a brake light bulb for my MT50 years ago from the garage up the road, got it back and fitted it and it did the same as yours is doing. Checked it and the bloody braking filament broken.

Got another, sorted! Thumbs Up

Wot adam said , if you have one whip the bulb out and put a 9 volt (pp3) battery across the terminals on the bulb it will light the filament up if its o.k. If you have a test meter use that. Thumbs Up

Hi

Time for the multimeter?

By the description I would guess that you might have fried the wiring to the brake light, but also check that there is not a fuse hidden in the circuit somewhere.

Where are you at the moment?

All the best

Keith

If you find the loom that appears out of the light cluster follow it back to the fuse box and check it has not rubbed through on the frame causing a short or a connector hasn't come undone. Also its worth re-checking the fuse to make sure it's O.K.
