Does anyone know where I could get a restrictor kit from other than FI. I really don't want to pay 150 quid for the washers. Are there any sites that people sell them second hand that I might have missed?

It's the 03-EX500A-K25 kit for a GPZ500 i'm after.

Give ebay ago. Try and find someone selling the bike that may have the restrictor you want. Then email them and see if the bike is restricted or if they have a restrictor. If they have one seperate then try and put across the message that they can't be used again so that you can possibly get them free, even though they can be re-used.

Or take it to a normal dyno place and ask them to restrict it without using f1

Would the restrictors for the gpz500 be the same as the er5? I know they're based around the same engine.

If so, I may be able to get some spares, if another er5 owner gives me them (shes got to get back to me)

As mentioned in my thread recently, just use electricians tape wrapped around the carb mouth (if you know how to get to the carb).

Find someone with a GPZ500 who can give you an idea of the size.

Didn't know they could do that Laura. Any idea as to how much it would cost? How would they restrict it?

Loply didn't people say that was a bad idea?

I thought maybe it could take the same restrictor kit as the ER5. As you say, it's the same engine pretty much. Not sure though.

Some dealers with a Dyno will restrict it for you, by restricting the throttle movement, which assuming you have variable venturi carbs, does effectively exacly the same as the FI restrictors.

They hazard a guess how much to restrict it, then run it on the dyno, and adjust from there, the one I spoke to reckoned about £150, so not much difference to FI.

I reckon your best bet is a secondhand pair of restrictors, or you could make your own from the pattern I will email to you, the pattern I am emailing is for an ER5, you can check the part numbers for compatibility on FI's site.

I have realised I can add an attachment here, outside diameter should be 42mm, so that it just fits in the rubber section of the inlet mnifold, when the carbs are removed.

Just get it done with an FI restrictor kit. Either you'll never be asked for it in which case no problem, or if you are asked for it you can show them the FI International bit of paper and they'll be happy. Or you could start telling them the story of how you've restricted it yourself and show them a dyno printout, expect lengthy discussions to follow with plently of hassle. FI International kit = easy solution and simple as it is accepted when you're asked for proof.

Unlucky. My restriction on my ZX6R which cost £0and I never got any hassle from anyone, far better than what I'd have got for £50 from some dyno shop.
