Whats your discs like e.g. worn, scored? Are your pads contaminated possibly? Ive got EBC HH front pads on my current kmx200, with a steel brake line, and even though the disc is worn to well below the min thickness, the braking was better on this bike than the 1st kmx i had, which was fitted with organic pads, and aged rubber lines. if anything the rear brake was twice as powerful as the front was. I would personally start with a full service, strip and re-build the caliper with new seals, cleaned piston and change the fluid. If your disc is worn its probably best going for an EBC disc as well as new EBC HH pads. Kmx's wear discs quickly usually less than 10'000miles on a front disc. If your kmx125 has a tip top condition braking system it should be perfectly sufficant for road use, bearing in mind that its a trail bike, so it doesnt have comparable brakes to a sports bike like an RS125. I dont think you need to do more than the above to make a kmx125 stop reasonably well considering its performance, but if ultra sharp stopping power is required you either have the wrong bike, or you need to do a supermoto conversion and fit a big disc. |

Those rubber hoses get to be almost useless after a while. Expanding under the pressure. Get yourself a set of braided hoses...I did and it's made all the difference on my KMX.
I got mine from here if it's any help.
All the best matey. |
