Mineral oil : Castrol Super TT £5

Fully Synth : Castrol TTS £10

I have been up to know using mineral oil, (without me knowing, Castrol Super TT), but then found that they also do Castrol TTS (fully synthetic, twice the price).I brought some and I am about to drain the tank to replace it with TTS, but is there much to be gained over mineral oil (apart from more protection), i mean things like power acceleration etc?

It was run previously on Fully Synth oil so i dont reckon it has done much damage.

Hi

The fully synthetic is better , but depending on the bike I would not bother. Never did when we had a TZR125.

Also, very rarely will there be a reaction between fully and mineral oil. As they are both Castrol oils I would not worry at all.

All the best

Keith

________________________________________________________________________________

Applications

Castrol TTS is a fully synthetic 2-stroke engine oil that has been designed to maintain a tough replenishing layer of protection on critical engine parts. It reacts to changes in engine operating temperature which frequently occur in highly powered 2-stroke engines, releasing extra protection as it's needed. Castrol TTS will provide maximum and sustained engine performance, even at wide open throttle and high engine speed conditions. It delivers unbeatable protection against thermal and mechanical breakdown.

High output motorcycle engines require a high performance lubricant that will provide extreme protection at maximum engine speed, load and temperature. Castrol TTS outperforms competitor oils when tested to the limit at high revs and at very high temperatures.

Castrol TTS is designed for use with all the highest powered 2-strokeJapanese and European road and off-road motorcycles. Castrol TTS is designed for both oil injection and pre-mix lubrication, as per manufacturers' recommendations, up to a fuel/oil ratio of 50:1. Castrol TTS is fully compatible with both leaded and unleaded petrol.

Power differences only come into play when you start changing mixing ratios and from normal oil to castor oil.

There are a few pages in THIS book.

I've found that the cheaper the oil the less well it burns off and the more likely you are to have ring and power valve issues.
