I was wondering what people have come across while on the open roads of Britain, specificly people that have an agressive driving sense from near misses you have had to people throwing throwing cigarettes out the window. I do find these stories interesting Smile

I encountered a thoughtless car driver who just stopped on the carriageway, when I had finished rooting in my pocket and looked up I was only a few feet away from him and his Astra Estate.

On impact and despite the fact that have no gymnastics experience I did a cartwheel (apparently) over the car and landed on my feet on the zebra crossing that was coincidentally right in front of the stationary Astra. Being slightly dazed I just say down where I was and had to be carried off the road.

The car driver claimed for whiplash.

Sounds like he stoped for the Zebra crossing Laughing

I was once filtering down to the front of the que and I got to the front at the lights and pulled across infront of a mini cab. The COCK in the mini cab (Araic bloke) started ramming my back tyre. While I was looking round wonderin wat the hell was goin on, The lights went green, he pulled round me and slowed down right in front of me! Confused
Because my bike is pretty quick at picking up speed, I managed to get up side his cab, Kick his door in and boot his wing mirror off Mr. Green

I then did a solid U turn in the road and went back the other way! I saw him in my mirror trying to make a 3 point turn on a little narrow road! Laughing

The worst I had was in Scotland. I'd flown upto Glasgow to go and see a customer, and picked up a hire car at the airport. Dricing along one of the motorways (don't know which one) I was trying to read the many signs and work out where I was going (I was pretty lost!).

Anyway, at a busy junction with a few options I slowed down in the middle lane trying to read the signs as the inside lane was closed. About three/four hundred metres away I could see that the middle lane started to get closed too, leaving just the outside lane. So, I look over my right shoulder to see a white van sat in the outside lane on my rear corner. I indicate right, and it doesn't move, so I speed up slightly but realise that the shite hire car hasn't got any guts. In the end I have to brake - by no means an emergency stop but far harder than I should have had to - so that this idiot passes and I drop in behind him.

Out of frustration and disbelief at his lack of awareness I flashed him with my lights once. Then, his brake lights come on and I figure that he's part of the roadworks team and he's going to pull in between the cones ( Doh! ). Nope, he stops his van in the outside lane of the motorway, gets out and comes to have a go at me! I was so gobsmacked it was all I could do to tell him to "fuck off" after he'd finished ranting and he stompted back to his van.

Stupidly, I was still so gobsmacked that I didn't get the company name or number written on the van. Oh, that would have been an interesting phone call to them and then the police.

You wouldn't want to try Glasgow this time because they are having to replace some of the approaches to Britain's busiest known bridge (the Kingston Bridge which is part of the M8) from the end of this month for 1 year or more. They are having to do this because they are sinking because some twat built the bridge and approaches without actually reaching bed rock!

I can quite well understand your predicament while travelling the M8 and the northerly approach to it along M74 as their is so many road worksall over the place on it it's basically come to a grid lock during the early part of the day. Try getting back on to the M8 south across the Clyde is a different kettle of fish because if didn't know the place you would be lost because the sign posting is crap and route to it is very poor !

I've been suprisingly road rage free, normally it's me giving middles to apologetic car drivers when they've SMIDSY'd me.

Riding with my brother last year and some pr1ck (passenger in the car) gave my brother the finger for no reason, he gave it back. The car stopped and the passenger starts screaming at him through the rear window. His door opens. (We are waiting at the lights) I put the stand down, turn off engine and get off in a bad mood. The car shot off whilst the passenger was half out the car. Laughing LMFAO.

... got deliberately undertook on a roundabout despite signalling to come off - gave the guy a blast on the horn and gave him a round of applause as he looked in his mirror ... the bugger stopped, got out his car leaving the door wide open and stomped over, f*ing and blinding all the way, having a go at me ... ? ... so I told him to "Go on! Piss off back to your car and stop being such a tw4t" ... before realising what I was saying! I think the only thing that stopped him lamping me was the fact that I was bigger than him and there were people standing and staring. He got back to his car, still f*ing and waving his arms about and drove off swearing into his mirror - so I gave him the thumbs up and another round of applause ... bugger made as if to stop again!

I'll never learn ...

ooh yes ... always get the name of the company, phone number and vehicle fleet number ( if any ) of the van that chopped you up ( difficult on a bike, i know .....) ... I have been known to phone the transport manager and complain that the van driver was driving like a **** and if he does it again, I will bury my car in the side of his van ( firms motor , not mine !)

dunno if it makes any difference but gives me a warm glow to think his manager bollocks him for dragging the firms rep down the pan ...

did it to a taxi once who cut me and others on a roundabout ... and as I hung up we all got stuck in traffic ... me behind the taxi ... oh sh*t ...

When on the speedfight last year, some bloke looked at me sat next to him at a roundabout( giving way to other cars) and he shouted "fuck off, ya little c*nt" So I thought this was hilarious, and said "woooooooooooooooo" his face went red, so I tooted me horn and carried on! Was definately a funny one.

Occasionally when someone pulls out in front of me, or slams the brakes on I high beam them for a while! After filtering, I have known a lot of boy-racers/tits attempt to push me outta the lane! I just laugh, wanker sign and continue.

Why you gettin g pissed off with him in the first place. Yo looked in your mirror, saw a vehicle there and STILL switched yourt flashers on as if you were going to pull out. It is not his job to let oyu out (although it may have been courteous under the circumstances), it is your job to make sure it is safe to do so before attempting to change lanes. Had I been in his place on my bike, I would have probably braked hard on the assumption (as shown by your flashers) that you were about to move into my lane, which is not a good thing to do on a busy motorway but better than being forced into the armco.

Sorry if this sounds like a flame dude, but it is that sort of driving that results in me removing mirrors. There was no excuse for him to stop to have a go though

I think I might have told you all my good ones.

Did I tell you the time when I was on a big rideout in the borders (90+ bikes) when this tw@ in a car really badly carved up my mate by overtaking him then violently cutting in and hitting the brakes just before a roundabout. This was on the approach to Lockerbie heading South. I thought 'you aren't getting away with that' and passed him after the roundabout then pulled back in front of him and closed the throttle. I got the speed down to about 20mph and started wobbling about on the road in front of him (on the basis that if he was wanting to go that fast, it would piss him off the most). As the road is rather twisty, it was a good 15 minutes before he could overtake again and everyone else behind me on the run saw what was happening and kept back.

By the time the guy got past me, he had the car on the rev limiter blasting smoke everywhere and his missus was hanging out of the passenger window screaming abuse at me. I waved.

He didn't dare stop and make an issue of it having realised that there were rather a lot of bikes on the road around him by this point.

Ride bike in London + easily pissed off with bad driving = Road rage x 100 everyday

Seriously though I once got very pissed off with a woman who after she nearly knocked me off and I raised my hand in a 'what was that about gesture' then screamed at me to f*ck off. I got next to her in the traffic and told her that all she should do was simply 'say sorry' but she wouldn't stop swearing. I booted her car door, not enough to damage it and 2 weeks later had to be arrested, cautioned and give a statement about it. Luckily her statement was so untrue it made my story believable and I was let off. The Copper told me how close I'd come to a serious charge though.

Moral: If you haven't been knocked off then stay cool, just smile, wave and ride off

So that he knew I wanted to pull out, given the limited space.

Exactly.

Which was what I was doing.

Fair comment, and I'd do (and have done) the same. I maybe didn't explain too well as I just chucked my account down in the post. From his position it would be pretty damned obvious that I need to pull out, and the fact was without him moving (speeding up or dropping back, either way is fine) it caused me to have to break. Inconsiderate at least. The situation is componded by me not knowing the road, being lost and the roadworks but the fact is he didn't want to let me out.

stinkwheel wrote:

The fact that he stopped in the outside of a motorway and got out of his car just goes to show what a twat he was. If he would do that, he's hardly going to worry about me approaching cones with no-where to go is he?
