I imagine for their use, they'll do a test at a particular rpm with a sensor at particular distance from the exhaust. It doesn't take very long to do and is pretty simple.
105dB at 7m away for a drive by test is really quite loud, and I wouldn't really expect them to do one, as the area you need to ensure that the test is accurate is quite specific (and large) and the test takes quite a while. ____________________ I must not be a troll...

Donington have noise monitors dotted around the circuit (allegedly) so they don't get you in individually to test. If you've ever been to Castle Combe you'll know what stringent is - they measure the noise on each bike from half a metre. My ZX6R with a standard exhaust measured about 103db - some ZX9Rs and R1s with standard cans failed!  |

Can't wait till i get my bike!
i'm an acoustic consultant and get to play with sound level meters all the time. will be measuring the noise from the mighty XJ600 cans from the standard 1 metre away!
