Hi all,

I recently bought the ER5 and i got it home, but then suddenly the speedo stopped working. The rev counter, fuel gauge and mileometer still work tho. I don't think its the cable. Maybe the clocks have broke? Anyone know anything? or how it can be fixed???

I'm not 100% on the specifics of the er5 but...

Its most likely the cable, did it jump about before going or just stop?

Undo the cable from the front wheel (it might be driven from the gear box though, i dunno...) and then try twisting the cable, or pulling it, if it comes out then its broken Razz

When you change your cable be sure to oil it (used engine oil is handy for this) idealy liquid graphite or similar... it will last longer that way Smile

If the trip odometer is still working the cable is ok.

Yes it seems the clock is faulty, try giving the clock a good smack as something may have jammed. If that doesnt work you need to get it repared or replaced.

Speedocables on ER-5s go all the time, I went through 3 in 4 months!

A little tip would be start stocking up on them otherwise you'll end up like me and get stopped for speeding!

Had the same back in my kawasaki days, I broke quite a few of them, comman problem with Kawasaki's.
As CraigZZR points out, get a few spares, with all the speed cameras these days it's not worth the risk
riding with out a working clock.
