I work for a company who have a massive shopfloor full of welders and heavy duty CNC lathes and one of the guys said he would build me a ground anchor out of some incalloy which supposedly is almost impossible to cut through. Has anyone got any ideas on shape etc ... or links to the best ground anchors you can buy so i can copy ?

I Think Halford sell them, might be worth popping in to knick some ideas or Any good Caravan shop has alot of them for sale, take some quick photos and measurements from there that should help on your way.

I'd get something a bit like the attached picture made up. I've no idea if it'd be really strong enough, but basically I'd just scale it up until it is. Make it out of suitable steel and it should be pretty good.

Bolting it to the floor is a basic approach, attaching a 'christmas tree' arrangement of concrete reinforcing bars to its base and setting that in concrete would be better.

Don't take my work for the attached design idea being especially secure, it's not exactly something I've spent much thought on. Just make sure that whatever is welded is properly filleted.

I would do something like this, and set it in fresh concrete, no chance of them unbolting it then either.
Excuse the extensive detailed diagram. Laughing

If you're going to get a bolt down one fabricated, make sure to use bolts which will grip the ground properly. (Rawl bolts I think they're called.) Also, if there is a countersink around each head (so the top of the bolt heads would be flush with the upper surface of the metal) , and they were perhaps allen bolts (dunno if rawl bolts can be allen heads, but never mind that), then you could hammer a steel ball bearing into the allen key socket once they were in so that it'd never be coming out. Smile

Alternatively, I quite like the approach that Dom_ has shown, with it embedded. Just be sure to dig the hole narrower at the top than the bottom so that the new concrete can't be pulled out as a block, as old and new concrete don't bond very well.
