...so managed to get the bike out for a quick blat this afternoon!

Being a fair-weather biker, I don't think it's been out of the shed for over a month. Embarassed

Didn't go that far (about 25 miles I think), just far enough to warm the bike up, remember how to ride it and start feeling the cold in my fingers - note to self must get better winter gloves - but it was enough to make me realise how much I'd been missing it.

Road surfaces seemed OK to me, but my other half (who was out with me) said he kept losing his back end on roundabouts because of the salt. I told him maybe he shouldn't go into them quite so hard then! Wink

I was pleased to note that the cheap stuff we squirted it all over with last time we put it away seemed to have done the trick as there was no furring or rusting anywhere that I could see, so gave it another good squirt then came in to have some hot chocolate & sit by the fire.

Looking forward to spring already. Thumbs Up

You're not on your own, It had a spring- ish feel down here too, and it was just begging to be exploited. It was the first time I've ridden for anything other than necessity for ages, and I'd almost forgotten how good it can be. I was feeling so bouncy that I' even cleaned all the salt from last weeks Bracknell mercy dash off when I got home, so now she's gleaming. Very Happy

Oh, if anyone's interested the "cheap stuff" came from the pound shop, it's in a green tin and it's called Super Maintenance Spray, made by CarPride.

Looks & smells like WD40, but at only £1 for a big tin you can really give your bike a good coating with it!

Yep I went out for about an hour, was sunny enough to try out my inbuilt helmet sun visor. Turned round for home when the snow started to fall though. Sad

I've found that super maintenance spray to be very good as removing chain gunge from the swingarm.

Aye, it's bloody freezing today!

I've only just got my bike going again. First time in 4 months. Embarassed Not that I'm a fairweather biker. Just lazy and it had a lot of work to be done.

Rub it in why don't you. It's been snowing again today in some parts of Scotland! Horrible weather. How I wish it was 16 deg. I'd settle for that all year round!

nah I am really serious I really drove to work and wore long pants!
does your face feel burnt or numb if you ride in the cold? the coledest I have ever felt was when I had my ZZR 250 and rode about 100km at 5:30 in the morning, the temperature was a very cold 6 degrees and I was wearing 2 singlets, a T-shirt, a jumper, my leather jacket and pants, a neck warmer scarf thing a pair of winter gloves 2 pairs of socks and my boots. I swear my whole body felt like it had frost bite! the coldest I have EVER been Shocked

1st of March. Spring has officially started. So somewhere between now and October there's gonna be a week of decent weather that counts as British summertime (Although there's nothing to say that week will be on 7 consecutive days). Confused

Spring!!?? Zoffo, it's snowing in Scotland again!!

I must be getting used to the cold. Was out with a thin layer under my leathers on sunday. The sun was out but it was still cold. Got my first fly in the eye too of the year!

It's not that bad riding in the cold, but my tyres don't want to hook up to the road unless it's warm. Got some decent lean angles going but still not totally confident in scrapping my knee. Can't seem to commit that last inch or so cause of the cold.
