over the past week or so with the snow we've been having ive still had to go to college

my college is off the main drag, there is no way o accessing it other than two little very twisty, nastily cambered roads,

the council dont grit them, nor do the school+college

so they stay snowy/icy until the sun breaks through....

this morning i nearly dropped my varadero trying to turn into the entrance.

which made me slightly p!ssed off that the college hadnt bothered to put any grit down (although there are bins on site)

so this lead me to.....

do schools, colleges and other such places have any kind of legal obligation to grit the roads or make an effort to make them safe?

surely it would affect any liability insurance policy the school would have?

Yes. Any accident on their premises that can be attributed to negligence on their part makes them liable.

Be a little careful however, as you may find their answer to this is to stop anyone bringing a bike into school Confused Thats if they are anything like my old school. Just a thought.

and a safe place to put helmets etc.

they are alot better than my last sixth form which was private and didnt like bikes at all.

tomorrow however ive got to go in early before the main bulk of traffic has gone down the roads :S think i mite park the bike at the pub on the main road and walk lol Embarassed

BTW if you suffered any injury it should be recorded in their accident book. Even if you didn't it should be recorded as an incident
