Crying or Very sad My bike (EX500/GPZ500) fell over in the garage onto the snowblower. The fairing is fine, but there's now a pencil-sized hole in the fuel tank in the side. I haven't even ridden the thing yet!

Does anyone know how to repair this? Does it need to be welded? Is there a filler than can be used on a fuel tank? I know I could look for a replacement tank, but 500s aren't that popular here-and I'd like to fix the original tank if possible.

I hope this isn't an omen...

Thanks!

Metal putty just sand away the area around the hole, bang some putty on it, wait for it to dry and then sand it down so its flat again. Thats what I did to my tank when I discovered 8 pencil sized holes in my tank!

Hi

To be honest I would go for a 2nd hand tank. By the time you have fixed the hole and painted it again it would probably be barely more expensive, and quite possibly a fair amount cheaper if you find a tank the right colour.

All the best
