Derestriction, metal washers?

I need all the help i can get on derestricting my zxr400L.

its been retricted by metal washers in the carb.

can anyone give a step by step guide on their own experiences. where to locate the carb, what tools i need, can it be done by a mechanical novice. how to remove the carb. any site that you know of (i cant find anything of any use).

Right, Take off the tank, then you will see the airbox. You need to take this off, There are 2 little covers on the airbox which you need to remove to get to some bolts that need undoing to remove the airbox. Once thats off you will see the carbs.
Look to the bottom of the carbs and you should be able to see where they joing onto the engine, they go into the inlet rubbers which has clips on.
You undo the screws that are on these clips. Once undone pull on the carb and it should pop out.
You will now see the washers, there are 4 of them one in each inlet. There are 2 bolts on each inlet holding the washers.
Undo the bolts then remove the washers.
Do the bolts back up making sure everything is the same way round.
When you push the carbs back in and tighten the screws on the clips that hold them they HAVE to be the same way or they may fowl the carb and be dangerous.
Thats pretty much all there is to it.
