Has anybody ever fitted one of these?

If so what did they think?

And is it a good idea to get the ECU Re-mapped?

cheers

K+N Air filter I presume, not the oil filter? Don't think you need to remap. Could be a bit expensive unless you have something like a power commander installed on your bike, in which case you could just download a new fuel map.

Yeah the air filter. I've also got an after market can fitted.

Some people had said that having the can doesnt realy affect the bike (which it doesnt on mine) but putting in the K&N can cause flat spots unless you get it re-mapped.

It's a Triumph Daytona 600 BTW

Hi

I would expect the can to result in far more need to play with the mixture than a K&N filter.

Realistically on most modern bikes there is next to nothing to be gained from a can. Sometimes they will make the bike feel faster by screwing up the power low down so the top end power comes in with more of a bang.

All the best

Keith

I've heard they updated the fuel maps on early TT600's to sort out fuel glitches in Triumph dealers. They might have a 'can+filter' map for your bike that they could just upload to your ECU, might be worth a try.

Pretty sure triumph use a decent air filter as standard. The name eludes me at the moment, buts its one of the high flow types thats a bit better than a K&N.

Wait for MarJay to come along, he'll know.

Do the K&N's actually make the intake noise different?

My pipercross filter made the induction noise a lot raspier. The extra noise was noticeable at standstill.. and when you crack the throttle open Mr. Green

Wotcha

I've got a k&n jobbie in my er5 along with the remus exhaust system (As you heard Wink) and it doesn't feel like it needed the fuelling needed meddling with.

I think you should buy one and see if there are any real areas where it bogs down in power before commiting to get ecu remapped.

Of course, tehres no harm in taking it to a garage and asking what they think. There might not be any areas where it bogs down in power but you may release more if you get it re-mapped. Question

Apparently, an er5 with a standard exhaust and k&n air filter makes a nice induction whine when accelerating, but I can't hear this with my bike, all I can hear is the bloody exhaust. Laughing

All you got to make sure is that you re-jet the carb, otherwise you'll be taking in more air than fuel. So make sure you buy bigger jets, otherwise you'll end up seizing the engine up, and we don't want that do we? Wink
