Riding along minding my own business and the bike just cut out and died. No power even enough to start the dashlights.

It has a new battery so I'm thinking it may be the rectifier or stator. Is there a way of testing these?

Check Insulation resistance and a continuity test? Is there any other method for checking this? Thanks.

Have you checked the starter relay fuse hasn't popped? Give the other fuses a check too.

Also check if there's a block connector that goes to the relay and that isnt loose.

I'd bet on the fuse. Same thing happened to me when I had a GPZ500.

I pushed the damn thing over two miles home and then discovered a spare fuse in the box Mad

Stupid question, but have you checked the battery leads? I had the same symptoms on a previous bike and after much head scratching it was found to be a knackered negative battery lead that had come adrift.

First question: Do you have a multimeter?

Check the voltage on the battery in dc. Should be about 12-13 volts.

Then start the bike. It should now read 14-15 volts.

Tell us the results.

You say it’s got a new battery... you did check the leads were on tight? You didn’t say what you’ve already tried...
