I'm buying the 33bhp restrictor plates off ebay and need help fitting them to my 94 XJ600S Diversion. I know they're fitted to the carbs but other than that I haven't got a clue.

I'm not worried about the legal implications, just want to get the kit fitted, Thanks

gosh, does your name have the abbv "St" before it? as in "Saint"

ive never heard of this 1 before fititng them for the sake of it Razz

different bikes have diff restrictors mainly they are in the carbs and on the throttle assembly i believe.

im not 100% sure about this but im sure that they'll come with instructions Cool

Why dont you just put a 2/3 throttle Stop on it. Get it on a dyno run, Get a dyno Certificate for proof of it being below 33bhp. Then take the throttle stop off..

Is that allowed???

I know its not allowed to take it off agen. But would it pass the requirements with a throttle stop?

I was thinking about that myself, I was asking a traffic policeman I know about how to convince an officer I was legally alowed to ride it (because for all he knows all 400cc bikes produce 33bhp!!!) and he said fit the kit then get a dyno printout n keep it with me.

I was only going to fit the kit to get a dyno run, then remove it (without my bike loving girlfriend's dad knowing about it of course)

Unless you have an accident, if they notice (and they will) you will not be insured. Thumbs Down

Technically yes. But picture this for example. You buy a bike from a Kawasaki dealer for instance. They sell you the bike telling you it is restricted to 33bhp and they give you a certificate to proove it. Say that person knew nothing about bikes and just took their word for it. They then have an accident, only to find that their bike ISN'T restricted at all. Surely you could just say, the garage told me it was AND gave me a certificate to proove it. How was I supposed to know?

I reckon that would work Wink

Fraid not, Ignorence is no excuse. Its up to you to give your insurer any details of changes to the vehicle. If they found out you removed the restrictors then they may try to get any 3rd party money back off you. They don't like paying money out and will use any excuse to get out of doing it. Insurance companies scream for your money but trying to get any back is like getting blood out of a stone.

Any modification made to your bike should be told to the insurer, even things like tank pads. The way they look at it is the bike is more attractive to a thief.(unless you put Neons on it then it de-values it Mr. Green )

You can get caught out if you have an accident, more likely if you don't have an FI international cert aswell. Also think you are probably more likely to crash in your first two years of riding as well.

The restrictors seat into the carb rubbers normally.

Take the carbs off, take the carb rubbers off. See if they fit into the carb rubbers, they should if they are round ones.

Good idea to clean up your jets and float chambers while you have the carbs off.

Thanks for that info about the carbs, it was just what I needed. I think they're actually more rectangular and probably fit by the gaskets? Any more help with this matter would be much appreciated.

I won't need to re-balance the carbs or set them up again by doing this will I?

Thanks
