2nd time now. A car turning right from a side road, failed to see me (the only vehicle) and pulled out in front of me. I swerved to avoid him (natural instinct) and went into the back of a Ford Transit parked half on the pavement half in the road.

The car did not stop.

I am TPO. So I will have to pay for everything. This absolute ... why do people not take responsibility for their own actions?

He could have killed me, yet didn't even bother to check I was ok.

I was lucky I was only doing around 30mph.

I got away with a fairly bruised hand and badly bashed balls. My bike has bent forks and the plastics and headlamp/indicators are toast.

Nobody got his licence plate.

This is the second time I've been hit and the other guy has run. Is this common, or is it just me?

This was looking like such a good day. Evil or Very Mad

From the last frontal collision (which did not bend the forks) the costs were £1300, so I can only assume this is going to be £2000+

I spent this weekend trying to sort out my shitty finances and now I am another £2k down.

On the plus side, the guy in the parked van (think he may have been on the phone) was really cool. It was a work van and he said he would give it a scrub down when he got back to the yard and if his boss didn't notice it (just scuff marks) he would not say anything, so hopefully won't have to worry about that.

I'm just fkkking angry. I must have done something very bad in a previous life.

unlucky, think its natural instinct for cagers to ignore everything on the road and not bloody look where their going, iv even seen a few relatives not take notice of something on the road and have a close call with another car or lamp post Rolling Eyes just hope its not as bad for me when i get on the road (hopefully this week sometime) bad luck about the cost also (o and yer nutts Laughing )

In many situations like this where they fail to stop its often because they may not even have seen you at all even after you swerve and fall off!

Its a sad fact that may car divers do not know how bikes handle and don't understand that they cannot take evasive action like a car. In many ways it would have been better to actually go into them as at least that way they don't have a leg to stand on.

However at the end of the day at least you are unhurt. Money and bikes can be replaced, life and limbs can't.

You can claim from the MIB when there was an accident caused by an untraceable driver. Thumbs Up

Yeah. Funny, thats exactly what I have been told on 2 occasions by Police men. Make sure you hit the guy who caused the accident. Easier said than done. I was trying not to hit anything. Just pretty annoyed with my self as well.

I think I could have been more aware. I mean the van opp. the road should have put alarm bells in my head. I have people pull out on me regularly, normally its simply evade and curse. This wasn't that different, except for the Transit. I should have been planning ahead but I was not going fast so I wasn't really as focused as I should have been. Arse.

Thanks Ste. I will claim from them this time (though I feel it is just hitting me in my own pocket when my renewal comes round again). The only thing is, I know how long they take. A friend got her pay out last year. 7 years after the accident.

Every claim is different and so the final settlement so the amount of time needed for every claim will be different.

Have a look at this thread which is about claim settling time.

Anyone who knows more about insurance claims know how much difference there is with claiming from the MIB in comparison to claiming from a normal insurance company?
