... and another pal of mine has a GSXR 600 for a few weeks now. Around £3,500 worth of bike and although I have not seen it, it is mean't to be (or was) a very nice bike.
A lad he work's with went to his yesterday, to have a look and a go of his bike.
This lad is meant to have years of experience on bike's and took it for a go round the block.
Can you guess what happened next ???
Yep someone pulled out in front of him, sent him over the bonnet, and the bike is supposed to be a complete write off. How fast he was going i don't know.
Anyhow, the bloke in the car doesn't even bother to stop and they have no reg number or owt.
Me mate was just saying to me how I am daft for wanting a bike (I am a new rider and after a CBR 600).
However, I think the morale of this story is not to give anyone a go of ya bike in an urban enviroment.
This kid has now got to try and get the £3,500 out his work buddie and get another bike as summer is on it's way.
Another note, this is the second accident where a car or van has hit a bike and just pegged it, is this quite common ??? |

The usual unwritten 'biking' rule is that if you can afford to have a go you can afford to pay up for any damages that are incurred - simple as that. Would it have mattered if the car driver had stopped as your mate's friend may not have been insured anyway unless his own bike insurance covers him as 3rd party on another Bike.
To answer your question about failing to stop - it's relatively uncommon but unfortunately there are tosspots in every walk of life and it looks like your mate's friend has met one albeit fleetingly - Hope he's OK.

I've been the rider that's binned a mates bike on a diesel spill ... my mate was fine it was my missus I was more worried about
I sourced all the parts rebuilt it and put it back on the road for him as good as new.... cost me £1.5k and every spare minute of time for over a fortnight
I don't ride other peoples bikes anymore |
