Hello again,
A quick question for those in the know.
A friend of mine has a GPX750, and has recently had problems with the bike, losing power, etc.
He replaced the battery around Christmas time, I think it is an electrical problem, as the bike goes fine for a while (after the battery has been charged).
Anybody got a checklist we could go through to get to the bottom of this!
Thanks

Could be the regulator / alternator, check that these work first.

Also make sure all wires / connectors are not broken / loose.

Yeah sounds like the regulator is buggered. You can pick up a universal item thats cheaper than OE from MandP.

Put a voltmeter across the battery terminals, should read anything from 12.3 to 13.2 fully charged to be OK.
Then run the engine with the voltmeter still attached, the volts should rise with increased rpm peaking around perhaps 14.5 ish volts at probably 5,000rpm. If it doesn't get anywhere near the 14.5 or is way over then the reg/rec is probably duff (it might be the alternator but that's another story.
