I dont know heaps about 2 strokes, but I would assume its a build up of 2 stroke oil in the exhaust, and then when you do over 6000RPM, the exhaust heats up enough for this oil build up to start burning off. If thats the cause, I wouldnt worry.
If its the piston rings, you will notice a performance difference. So I wouldnt worry! ____________________ Big Kawasaki ZXR 400 project here:

could be:
Runing the bike on cheap nasty two-stroke oil
sitting in traffic ie. riding slowly for long peroids causing a build up of oil
leaking crank seal, gearbox oil buring in the cylinder (unlikey)
oil pump set too rich
simular problem on my right cylinder on kr1s at the moment due to the oil pump set too rich. White smoke from a 2 stroker often indicates that something is leaking into the cylinder which shouldnt be. This could be something such as a broken head gasket, which is taking coolant into the cylinder and burning it off, hence the white smoke. Could also be a problem somewhere else such as the crank seals, (as Tatters said) where transmission oil leaks into the crank and also burns off as a white smoke. This happened to my old one a few days after I bought her, just a good thing it was from a dealership with warranty!
As about 18aprilia's original post, I wouldnt be too worried. Two-strokes are meant to smoke quite a bit, most likely a build up of oil and crap in the expansion chamber, then as soon as you rev it to hell, it cleans it out in a nice plume of gray smoke.
If your bike is struggling to get passed the 6000rpm, pull the power valve blade out and give it a clean. They get quite gunked up with unburned oil after being used for a long time at low RPM's. Its a pretty simple thing to do if you havent pulled it out before. Simply raise the tank, unscrew the two bolts holding it in place then carefully clean it up with a little help from something like WD40, will clean it up nicely. Its a good thing to keep clean as it ensures maximum power, so it wont hurt to check anyways. ____________________ Aprilia RSV Mille R Edwards Replica - Aprilia RS250 - Suzuki GSXR600 Supersport Race Bike |
