as in title, i put new chain and sprockets on this weekend and when i came to ride it the back brake is hardly working the pads are ok, so do you think i'll need to bleed it and put fresh oil in?
ive got a cbr400 nc29 and do a current type oil?
and any rough idea of how much bleeding kits are?

Yes. You should bleed brakes and maybe change fluid. Check that the pistons are moving freely too

all you need to bleed your brakes is a small washing up liquid bottle and some plastic hose.

Make sure the bottle is the flip up lid type with a small lipped spout. Attach the hose to the spout. Cut the bottom of the bottle off so its open. put a small hole near the bit youve just cut off so you can hang the bottle upside down (the end you cut off facing up) off the frame with a bit of wire or string.

Hang the bottle near the bleed nipple and attach the hose t the nipple, it should be a firm fit.

open up the reservoir and top up the fluid. Depress the brake lever and undo the nipple. Pump the lever like mad , continually topping up the reservoir. Fluid will begine to fill up the bottle. Once there is plenty of fluid into the bottle and no bubbles appear, keep the lever depressed and tighten the nipple.release the lever and then oumo a few times.

Voila bled brakes! once you have the bottle attached and are pumping fluid it only takes a minute or two.

This works much better than-press lever-open nipple-close nipple-release lever.

You shouldnt need to bleed the brakes just because you've had your wheel off.

Have you tried simply pumping the brake through properly? You'll need to pump your brake to get the system under pressure again...
