frame sliders

Hey fellas, I recently recieved a set of frame sliders purchased from cycle gear for my birthday. I own a 2002 R6 and the sliders fall in the middle of the middle section of my fairing. I would like to know if I cut a hole in the fairing then the bolt that was there no longer holds support to my fairing, or notch the slider to where the appliction still holds the fairing to the frame. If anyone has pictures of there application I would like to see them> Thanx

Do you mean crash-bungs which mount via the engine-mounts, like this?

I appreciate that my gsxr is a little different in that the bung doesn't sit in the middle of a fairing-section.

What you should find is that the mounting-point doesn't actually provide any support to your fairing as it's an engine-mount, as far as I know. (At least it doesn't on the CBR600RR, where the crash-bung sits mid-panel.)

What you need to do is mark the inside of the fairing somehow, so you know where to drill a pilot-hole ... a blob of paint on the end of a bolt should do the trick

Once you've got a small hole drilled, you should be able to use a rotary tool (like a Dremmel) to open the hole up gradually, to fit the body of the slider/bung.

You get cheaper Motrax bungs that fit on the outside of the fairing aswell.

Right.

You want the bolt on ones that go through the engine/frame. These act as the bolt that replaces them.

There is no fairing mount in this place, so you do not disrupt the fairing.#, apart from cutting the hole.

The ones that only mount to fairing holes mounts can often can cause more damage than they save; they can actually break the fairing when it may have got away just with minor scuffs if you didn't have anything on!

Haven't 'tried them out yet'... but if it stays wet I may be this weekend . It is a small business run by a couple that seemed quite friendly and willing to accomadate.

The bolt that the slider attaches to go through the fairing and into the frame, but not all the way to the engine. Will that give a loose feel the that fairing like it is not attached at that point?
