I ran a red light straight a through a busy junction a while ago because I was too busy trying to work out what the hell the traffic streams were doing in front of me. I was lucky it was clear when I went pelting through at 50 odd. There's a little black box on the light I ran, I didn't get a ticket for it. ____________________ I must not be a troll...

To answer the original post, You got be looking at 3 pts and a fine. There is no need for the coppers to pull you over, flash you or anything else. They have witnessed you commiting a 'crime' and may well procecute.
If you get an NIP through the post, hold your hands up, just pay it and be more careful in future.
Re-doing your test is not fun, bear in mind its not just the practical, its the whole lot including theory test.
Fingers crossed for ya pal |

When I was working in Warrington last summer I used to commute along the East Lancs Road - it's a proper dual carriageway.... with traffic light junctions.
It's always a bit jittery belting up to a junction knowing that the lights could be about to change, especially as a lot of the junctions have red light cameras on them ____________________ Monster m600

All the british, traffic signals priority systems in use currently rely on GPS+Radio. Its effective, reliable and is nigh on impossible for an unauthorised vehicle to use it.
And yes, it does have limitations with cycles and delays. Shorter delays than would be had by a normal vehicle but delays none the less. Hence why, as you say, emergency vehicles are better to go on Blues and Twos and why they rarely have it fitted.
It is normally used for buses though so bus lanes get priority over normally traffic. It reduces delays to buses when its used but without increasing delays to cars to a critical level (usually) |

Would that be the reason behind some of the ludicrously short periods of time that the green is on on busy junctions? We've probably all had the all too common experience of being a few cars back from the front of the queue, the lights going green, and turning red again just as we get to the junction, with only about 3 cars actually getting out of the junction.
There does often seem to be buses around when that happens. ____________________ I must not be a troll...
