hi, probably wont remember but over the last 4 months ive been having trouble with my rs..... first engine blew up, came off it, rad was pissin fluid out, overheatin, engine seized..... its been in a month gettin fixed from the seizure.. what will they have done do you think? the main bearings caused it to seise btw. I GET IT BK TOMORO!!!!! lol sorry for the post im cravin to get back out on it!!!

Difficult to say. No real reason the radiator should pee fluid out unless physically damaged. Main place water would come out is the cap, and that is only likely to happen if you seriously overheat it.

Main bearings mean a complete engine strip, but also tend not to go suddenly like that, and would rarely seize the engine up.

hmmmm they must be givin me a bit of bull then..... it did definatly seize but they told me the main bearings have caused this? anyway i pick it up tomoro.... is there anyway i can check to make sure they aint cowboyed it together? cheers. houlsby

Hi

I have had the main bearings seize once, but replaced them due to age loads of times, and had one set totally fail without seizing the engine.

Main bearings tend to whine when they are failing.

My guess would be that you seized the top end of the engine (barrel / piston) due to a failed main bearing seal allowing the engine to draw in extra air and run lean.

In any case to replace the main bearings means a complete strip down. They might have just bodged it and replaced the seals, but to do the job properly is not cheap (£750 bill from a dealer would not surprise me for a complete rebuild including barrel and dropping the engine out).

Question for both of u....

how much oil does ur RS drink? I want to change my oil to a different make so i am waiting for it to go to reserve but after abt 2 months, the oil hasnt seemed to have gone down much at all!

Is this normal?

Hi

Engine oil, reasonable amount. Probably about 400~500 miles to a litre. Cannot remember exactly to be honest.

Gearbox oil, none.
