My new bike is booked in for it's service tomorrow at a garage that was recommended to me. So I thought I would ride up to it this morning so I know where it is.
I was on a dual carriageway about 4 miles from the house, and it started to splutter and buck like it was out of petrol (there's half a tank in there), then died. I parked the bike and walked a mile to the nearest Travel Inn type place and arranged for Direct Line Breakdown to come and get it (they insure the bike, not the person, so I had to pretend it was the SR that had broken down ). Bloke turns up an hour later, and asks "Did Direct Line authorise me to pick up a different bike?", I said yes and he didn't query it any further.
Decided to just drop the bike off at the garage since it was going there anyway, so he takes me up. Turns out the garage is in the middle of an industrial estate, where all the premises are done up like Fort Knox, and there's my little bike, with no locks and no alarm outside of the building!
Just about to get a lift up and lock and cover the thing, so keep your fingers crossed it's still there tomorrow! |

Industral estates are safe. I leave my bike outside one from 7:30-9:30 every night whilst at work. They have cctv everywhere and always someone watching. Well they do at the one i go to. |

Hopefully that'll be the case with this one as well then.
I have just got back and have put my huge chain through the swing arm and back wheel, and attached it to this massive steel fence post, a smaller chain through the front wheel and fork, and removed the HT leads and put the steering lock on. The little b*stards will have to work if they want to pinch it! |
