Seems my chain has stretched, its like sitting on the sprocket at the top, but towards the bottom its moves out of sync so it sits on top of the sprocket cog things.
Anyway my question is, which of these do i get, as i know nothing about makes of chains:

Chain Standard Izumi £15
Chain Izumi Heavy Duty £17
Chain Standard Grade DID £20

I am avioiding the generic makes, I thought the izumi heavy duty would be the best bet, as good as the DID?

Same here, never had a DID chain snap, even though my last DID was *highly* abused. Embarassed

I'd have to say Kawasaki OEM, the chain outlived lots of other parts on my ZX6R such as the engine and the fairing. Laughing Razz

About the same as me then, I've also had an ISIS (think thats what they're called) chain snap, when on M4 which was fun. Neutral

Anything but ISIS gets my vote, I'd get the DID over the Izumi one as it's just £3 more.

I have a Tsubaki one on the GPZ, seems well made and was reasonably priced too, though its only done about 150 miles so far since putting it on a month and a half ago.

Also if no ones pointed it out to you yet you must replace the sprockets if you intend to replace the chain.

MCRR are good for C&S Kits and they're well priced too.

£20? Shocked

That seems very cheap mate. Is is a small engine or something? The heavy duty X ring chain I bought for my 600 was £50.

I didn't do the sprockets with the chain. TBH the damage used sporckets would do is minimal. Much better off spending your money on a decent paddock stand, chain cleaner and quality lube.

So you all reckon i should order the standard DID.
I thought the heavy duty one would be a bit stronger, or are izumi crap?

Here is a picture of the problem.
The sprocket seems fine so has the chain just stretched? I never noticed it before.

Can't inspect the sprocket from that picture but you definetly need a new chain asap!

Here is the sprocket. The chain seems to be loose all the way round not getting worse so maybe it needs tightening.

Needs to be a pic from the rear mate, looking towards the front of the bike.
So you can see the 'n' shape, or not of the sprocket.

If you are getting a new chain, you might as well change the sprockets too!!

looking at that sprocket i'd say change that at the same time otherwise it'll promptly knacker the new chain. those teeth look rather worn!

Cant you tighten the chain? Its hard to believe youve run out of adjustment????

the sprocket is worn but only about half worn i'd say as the teeth arent nearly read to fold over?

But yes buy a new sprockets with the chain.

Ive used EK chains and was happy with them.

Bike torque racing is where i got my last set from. £20 for a chain? I spent more than that on my moped! Don't get cheap chains as they just stretch in no time. If you can save your pennies, get the 'o' ring ones.

Just had a look and they don't list a zeal, but a std AFAM chain and sproket kis for a 125cc (520x104) is £43..... rising to £63 for a decenbt o-ring.
