Ok, Bandit 6's tyres are officially shagged.

What tyres should I go for?

I ride the bike daily, come rain or shine.

At the moment the tyres are as I bought it, a Battlax on the front, and a sport demon on the rear. I am going to get a set, but I don't know what to go for.

Any help appreciated muchos.

Thumbs Up

BT-010 Bridgestones. Good in the wet and dry, sticky, bt hard in the middle to prevent squaring off!

In my opinion, for what it's worth, Metzeler Roadtec Z6's are EXCELLENT on a Bandit 600 in both the dry and the wet.
I had a pair of Bridgestone BT56 as original fitment which were ok Neutral grip wise, but they didn't wear too well. I then tried Pirelli Diablo's, but I just didn't feel comfortable with them when leant over hard (and they have a very rounded profile compared to other tyres) Sad . They were quite hard wearing though.
The Metzeler Roadtec Z6's are fantastic. Great grip at all lean angles (the 'chicken strips' are totally gone on both sides of the rear and the right footpeg has been scaped several times Shocked )! They seem to be wearing well too. Cool Very Happy

Hi

I have these on my FZR600 and they are nice. However, they have now been superceeded by the BT014, so I expect them to become hard to get soon.

All the best

Keith

Don't mean to hijack (ok i do) but howabout on the SV650? Would BT-020 be good with their slightly better wear, or is the grip/wear ratio worth changing them a little sooner on 010/014s?

010/014 front, 020 rear will give you the best of both worlds.

Lots of people have used that combo in the past, no problems. Gives you the grippy front and the more wear-resistant rear.

I use BT020 front and rear on my 12
where i live is twisty as hell and the BT020 tyres are the best ive found for consistant performance in the wet or dry , i'm on my 3rd set now and can get about 3000 miles from a rear and about 4500 from the front .

Metzeler Sportecs are a decent tyre for real roads as are the Pirelli Diablos. The Diablos are more or less the same tyre but use newer technology.

Bridgestone 014's are getting very good reviews at the moment too.

Go for BT020s. I think it was Bike magazine which rated them as the best road tyre recently. I have a pair on my CBR600 and have done almost 9000 miles on the rear and I still have plenty of tread to go. I expect to get at least 12000 miles out of the rear. Thats with 80% motorway riding, 10% town work and 10% country lanes.

You have quite a wide choice on your bandit, with it having such universal and widely used tyre sizes.

As mentioned above you can fit BT45's if you wanted, though these are a cheaper tyre they still over good grip and wear well, so there good on a budget.
BT-010's/014's are alot more expensive usually but offer better grip all the time, but they'll wear out quicker.
BT-020's are a middle of the range tyre offering decent grip, and longer lasting.

I'd personally go with a combo of a BT-010 front and a BT-020 rear. Best of both worlds then!

I have only mentioned Bridgestone tyres as this is what I prefer mostly but you may find other makes such as Metzeler, Pirelli etc may suit your needs better. Just go to your local tyre place and see what they recommend on your budget is the best bet.

for me I would say the Michelin pilot power is what you are looking for! 52 degrees lean angle in the dry and 46 degrees in the wet same wear life as a pilot sport (I got 11,500KM from my last pair of pilot sports) awesome grip right from cold and a fine combination of stability front end feedback and corner response between direction changes Thumbs Up Mr. Green Thumbs Up
