Sounds like it has no oil in it or it's running out of fuel.

Clogged fuel filter, water in your fuel, blocked jets, knackerd oil pump are all possibles.

First i'd make sure you actually have some oil in it first Wink Laughing

Well fuel would be the first thing (and easiest thing) to check! Just fill her up and see what happens.

When i had my bike it used to cut out all the time i didnt no what it was, i was riding with a mate so he rode home and got my mom to pick me up cause i thoght im gonna have to leave my bike here which i didnt want to do . The time she got here which was about 25mins i thought to my self fuel tap put it on reserve and it started up straight away.

you proberbly didnt have the same problem as me so i dont have a clue what the problem with your bike.

You could clean the carb or check the fuel pipe that nothink is clogging it up, i dont no.

josh.

even though it was in gear i doubt that is why it locked up, esp as he was just doing 8k in 3rd, the speed he was going would have kept the engine turning over but not firing. like when you are bump starting, back wheel doesnt lock up.
although eventually it would lock up, but as he said he pulled the clutch in

what kind of bike is it?

if it's a 2 stroke, it sounds like a partial seizure.
check you've got enough oil in your mix.

if it's a 4 stroke.. I dunno...

get some new oil and a new filter in their then boyo (don't change oil without a new filter or you get all the old bits floating around in your new oil) If you find metal shavings in the old filter (copper or silvery flakes mainly) engine has probably damaged its crankshaft or big-end bearings (I think).

Mechanics 101:
The oil is pumped to small ports in the engine, one of these is usually between the carb & the bottom end, the petrol mixes with the oil as it passes over the port & distributes it everywhere that the fuel goes, ie, all around the crank/big end, up the transfer ports & into the cylinder where it gets on the liners to prevent seizure....

Run out of petrol & the oil isn't gonna get where it's supposed to go, ergo: ya run out of petrol & the fucker seizes, any questions or shall I type slower?

if you run out of petrol, your engine stops firing, it wont instantly seize. id guess that you didnt have enough oil in your fuel mixture. you can fix a seized engine farely easily if you got some spare time and some space
