It will be restricted because i would have expected a max speed of 60-70.
Take it to a dealer and ask about de-restriction.
Or to do it your self check a washer in the variator and the exhaust will have restrictors in it. Either get a performance one or take the restrictors out of the original. Also the CDI unit will be restricted. Replace this also.
Would expect around 90ish is this is done. ____________________ Zhongyu ZY50, Aprilia SR50, Motorhispania RX50, Aprilia RS125, Honda VFR400 nc24 and my corsa

I've been borrowing a Peugeot Looxor 100cc 2t for just over a week while I save up the money to get my RX exhaust welded and the whole bike licensed/insured. To be honest, it's one of the most fun bikes I've ever ridden! It's very light, pulls well on the throttle, drops quickly into corners and has front and rear discs. Also has large wheels which makes for a more stable ride over bumps and through corners. But it also gets to a top speed of about 53-55 mph on a flat, which is about as fast as the Runner SP 50 I borrowed last year . I've checked for a washer by the variator and there is none, yet it still feels like it's running out of gearing near the current top speed because the revs reach fever pitch.
I find it hard to believe that that's the true top speed, however, since this would eliminate it from being able to drive on 55 mph roads without running out of gas every 30 minutes.

You shouldn't expect great speeds from 100cc peds. The Speedfight 100 can do a max of about 60 really, probably the case for most others. You'll find a tuned 70cc and tuned 100cc, the 70cc will be better on top end and acceleration, simply because the 100's are low revving and the 50's are high revving, giving them a tad more power up top. ____________________ Honda MBX50 | Yamaha RD125LC | Suzuki RG125F Lucky Strike | Suzuki GSF600S

The other half says around 50 is probably the right figure for an mbk. He also says the Malaguti uses the same motor but is probably about 10-15mph quicker, but it also revs a lot higher & has a different CDI. ____________________ Sod falling in love, I wanna fall in chocolate. |

my gilera runner 50cc hits 55mph, altho its been fully de-restricted, pipe, n bits n pieces. my mates 70cc NRG hits 70mph. 4-strokes are much slower than 2-strokes (ped wise)
best to get a 125 2-stroke if ur after speed. they can top 100mph if done-up |

I said 90 because a mate had a speedfight 100cc and with a race pipe on it he was getting around 85 with it.. ____________________ Zhongyu ZY50, Aprilia SR50, Motorhispania RX50, Aprilia RS125, Honda VFR400 nc24 and my corsa

Variator Restrictors are also located inside the Variator, they limit the travel that the rollers can move inside. It will be a plate inside the variator. |
Thanks, Chris, didn't know that. I'll have a look as soon as I can get ahold of a piston stop.
stevo: What's the life expectancy on a stock scooter's belt, though? The bike only has about 3,200 km on the clock at the moment...then again, maybe it's worth looking into. Again, it's not my bike, only a temporary solution until I have mine running, so tuning is out of the question.
EDIT: Also, it doesn't really struggle to reach 50 mph, it's actually quite nippy (on par with my friend's 125 4t bike until about 45 mph), it just slows down a lot when it gets up there. It's really as though the gearing is limiting it, which to me doesn't make any sense. |
