Is it ok to use Wet Ones/Baby Wipes to clean my helmet/visor ?

What does everyone else use, i went out last night and my bike/helmet looks like i have slaughtered the entire fly population !!

Avoid any detergents. Just use a wet piece of kitchen roll, lay it onto the visor for a couple of minutes then take it off. Most of the bugs should come with it. I wouldn't use wet wipes it's not worth the risk.

I always use wet wipes, even keep some under my seat when I'm out.
There also uselful for taking off the bugs on the front of your bike when you get home before they dry on.
If it's good enough for a babys bum it's good enough for me. Thumbs Up

Personaly never "wipe" my visor, it leaves little scratches, ginguar's idea seems to be the best.

Well if you are going to use a detergent avoid getting it on the actual helmet as it's best not to weaken that. Be safe kids Smile

I somehow doubt that helmet designers would really be so short sighted that the use of mild household detergents would weaken and damage their helmets and visors. Use bleach or caustic soda or something, then perhaps it might, but I doubt baby wipes or washing up liquid will do any damage whatsoever.

Anyway, Shift-it spray is pretty darned good at removing insects. It's best when you get HG to throw it in for free. Very Happy

I tend to take the visor off and use warm water and washing up liquid.

I always forget to do it though until I'm actually on the bike and half way down the street.

Back in 5 minutes once I've done it. Thanks for reminding me Thumbs Up

Plan on using a damp spunge on the actual helmet, but only clean that for appearances rather than the ability to see.

Warm water with a drop of washing up liquid and I just use my fingers. Leave to dry.
