I passed my CBT on the 16th of this month, and I've booked some lessons for this Saturday the 1st on a bigger bike (I turn 21 on the 29th of this month!)

I did ok on my CBT, didn't have much of a problem with UTurns and managed to keep within speed limits, remember all of my shoulder checks, only problem I did have was that my boots were took small, causing me to lose balance when coming up to traffic lights (Changing down and using rear brake), I also do not use the front brake enough, which is a terrible habit as I used the clutch and the back brake on my CBT, which I am going to ask my instructor to teach me up on on Sat, do some emergency stops etc.

I was just wondering how many full lessons do you guys think that I'd need? Bearing in mind I did alright on my CBT and that I have never touched a road before then.

It's just that they are 20 quid an hour and my money isn't limitless! Sad

My lessons were £120 for 9-4. Are you going to want to take your DAS when you hit 21? if not i think maybe 1 or 1 1/2 days would be sufficient.

You should be able to get an assessment for free from the trainer witch will give you some idea how many lessons you need.

But my advice

If you don’t have a car license and haven’t been driving on the roads get you self a 125cc for 6 months. Not only will you learn how to ride and polish up on your skills you will more importantly learn how to read the road.

The Highway Code is all good and well but it isn’t what really happens on the road and learning that on a bike that will not aggravate your lack experience on the roads would be invaluable.

That’s my advice it not about the skills need for riding more about the experience to be able to read the roads and survive out on them.

Can I also ask what I did to deserve the boring rating of this thread? Was asking a question, if you're not interested I assume you have reasonable enough skill to use your mouse and click "General Bike Chat" again.

2 or 3 days road training with the test at the end I'd expect as generally DAS courses are 3 or 4 days taking you from doing the CBT on the first to your test at the end of the last day. Should be cheaper than somewhere selling you road training by the hour.
