I've just bought a black visor for my helmet. When it gets dark, it's too dark to see through, so I want to carry my clear visor around with me just incase. Also, I believe coppers don't mind black visors as much if you've got your clear visor with you (is this true?). My problem is that a visor wouldn't last two minutes in my backpack. Does anyone else carry their clear visor around with them? And what do you put the visor in as protection?

Cheers,
Dan.

I always carry my clear visor if I have my dark one on. You can get specific visor pouches, a bit like a bum bag. Your local bike shops will probably have them.

Used this for a few years now, with no problems.

I can slip mine inside my leathers even though I'm a fat bastard

or later in the year it goes nicely inside a goretex jacket

(in the little visor pouch obviously)

and SOME coppers MAY overlook the black visor if you have a clear one with you - of course, that depends what else you have been doing you naughty boy

If I'm wearing a clear visor with sunglasses, then people can still see my ugly mutt. I'm trying to do the world a favour! Very Happy

To be honest, I've not got the black visor for the sun - I just think it looks cool when the visor's completely opaque. But saying that - I would rather look less cool, and be able to see when it's dark! Hense the carrying of the clear visor Wink

And how about those of us that don't want to wear uncomfortable sunglasses under a helmet? Rolling Eyes

I've been told a trick with a clear visor is to slip a sock over it to protect it in a bag. Never actually seen anyone use this though.

As said there are bumbags available with a lined pocket for a visor.

I wear em all the time, don't even know they are there. Do you have a novelty shaped head or something?

my local halfords is even stocking Oxford bumbags with a soft/padded visor holder, or a simple visor only bumbag style holder.

the bumbag is ideal for me, as my leathers have only one internal pocket, and that's it... so I put the autocom unit, mp3 player, sunglasses, wallet, phone, house-keys etc in the bumbag when I'm out

I can't even put on my sunglasses when my helmet is on. Maybe your helmet isn't as tight as it should be? Saying that though - apparently I do have a 'novelty shaped head'. When I bought my helmet, it took them ages to find one the right size Confused

Yeah I've heard that myself that coppers are more fairer on you if you've got a clear visor spare. Depends if you get an arsey one mind Rolling Eyes

Was going to get a black visor for my helmet until I asked at my local shop and they charge about £30 for a replacement one Rolling Eyes Not too bothered though as there's a little flip down dark visor insde the helmet which is handy.

Just stick it in the boot . Forewarned though, this option may require the use of a substantial amount of ky Jelly or some other water based lubricant. Oh yeah and a lot of pushing, breathing and squealing like a pig Embarassed

Or you could just wear the black one when it's light, and wear the clear one when it's likely to get dark. A bit ground-breaking, but it works wonders for me Razz

I only got the black visor the other week, and I've already been stuck once where I was out a lot longer than I thought. I ended up having to pick a completely different route home where I could ride a lot slower with my visor up. This is basically what made me want to carry my clear visor around with me.

The visor carrier I ordered off ebay (thanks froggy_girl128 for the link), has just arrived this morning. Looks like it's just what I need.
