Hire a Transit van or similar. That's what I've always done. Transit's are fun to drive too. ____________________ Current bike: VTR1000F Firestorm. Previous: Firestorm (written off) - XJ600 Divvy - NSR125 - DT125 and a load of offroaders. |

A van should cost <£50, with a deposit of £80-100. They'll also expect you give it back with a full tank of diesel.
Some things to remember: a sturdy plank for a ramp (scaffolding planks work fine), rope/ tie down straps to tie the bike down in the van (try to get a van specifically with tie-down points), something to strap the brake pedal/ lever to hold the brakes on (cable/ zip ties should be fine).
Edit: some blankets/ old duvet/ similar are also useful to pad things out and to prevent scratching by ropes, for example. ____________________ I must not be a troll...

Ours cost £27.50 just for the evening, plus whatever fuel, ours came with none so we gave it back with none. Didn't need a rmap but it was only an rs50, a ramp would be advisable with a 400. Put the bike in gear and tue down the brake lever, a couple of ratchet straps will come in handy, they are only about £4 each off ebay. Failing that, any old rope will do (what we used.) |

If you've got breakdown cover use that, if not get some and then use it. Take a train there or however else you can get there. Once you've got the bike discover that you've managed to lose the keys but it's lucky you didn't leave the bike with the steering lock on. |

all sorted now, me dads got it insured for himself only , we had a quote of only £88. hes going to ride it home and leave the policy running untill (touch wood) i do me test then well change it into my name only. This way its fairly cheap and when he cancels it he should get some back as a refund and its insured for theft whilst in the garage.
cheers for the help ____________________ Now owner of a 1200 Bandit |
